A Matter of Succession

[MrBrough]

It was mid afternoon and a man named Jett Kyland was sitting alone in his team's dorm alone holding a letter in his hand.  he sighed deeply troubled by the contents of the letter which read You are hereby summoned to the Kyland household you are to depart immediately". the letter was written by the one man that he feared his grandfather Johnathan Kyland.  

"Shit this is not good"  he groaned loudly "Now that they know where I am I suppose I have to go" he thought as he silently pulled his scroll and called Meli to tell her he would be out of town for a few days

Meli, meanwhile, was just sitting in her room thinking of what to do for the day before her phone rang, she saw it was Jett who rang and picked it up immediately "Hi, Jetty! What'cha doin'?" she said happily...

"uhh hey Meli I called to tell you that I'm going to be out of town for a while so we wont be able see each other for a bit" he said in a voice that clearly showed his reluctance.

Meli gasped lightly "Uh... Why, where and for how long?..." she asked sadly...

[MrBrough]

"I'll  be heading to my hometown I received a summons from my grandfather and it could take quite awhile it's pretty far and the roads can be a hazardous" he said in a tired tone

"I'll pack my travelling bags! Who else is coming?"

[MrBrough]

"Wait what?!" Jett exclaimed "No absolutely not no one is coming!"  he said firmly "That includes you" he added

Meli rolled her eyes to herself "Aw come on! I'm gonna have to meet your family eventually! Why not now!?"

[MrBrough]

Jett groaned "Listen Chasm really isn't a great place to just randomly visit it's absolutely frigid and like I said the conditions can be hazardous if you aren't familiar with the terrain" Jett said with a hint of desperation in his voice... he never could say no to her.

Meli rolled her eyes again "Jett, you know that when I want something you can't stop me, I don't care if it's cold, I'll just wear warm clothes, if it's so hazardous then we can bring more people!" she insisted...

Jett groaned inwardly "That isn't necessarily tr-..." he stopped realizing what she said was compleatly true.

"....So who else is going?..." she asked knowingly...

[MrBrough]

Jett sighed deeply "That isn't fair and you know it" he said giving a short pause "Two more people would be sufficient so I could bring Pete I guess and I'll leave the other one up to you"

Meli smiled to herself "I'll ask around! See you where and when?" she asked curiously...

[MrBrough]

"We'll meet by the gate leading out of Vale at five AM pack light and warm" he said slightly annoyed at the inevitable outcome.

Meli's eyes widened for a second in surprise "Five A-?! Ugh, okay... Okay... I'll see you then... Bye" she said as she hung up and took out a small luggage bag from under her bed...

Jett glared at his scroll for a second before giving a sigh of resignation to the fact he was compleatly helplessness "Never thought I would ever have a master much less one like her... well I guess it isn't all that bad" he smiled a little bit before calling Pete

Pete was sitting alone at his house, playing video games, before his phone rang, he didn't bother looking at who called him "Hey, you got Born, who's this?" he said, pausing his game...

"It's Jett I need to ask a favor" he said in a serious tone

Pete nodded to himself "What is it, how long will it take, when and where, and finally what do I get out of this?" he asked curiously...

"I need you to help me escort Meli to my hometown because she wouldn't take no for an answer as for when where and how long tomorrow at five by the gates of vale at five AM, it could take a while and I don't know what you would get out of it adventure maybe or I don't know a chance to see a little know warrior society hidden away deep in the mountains." he finished hoping the last part may capture his interest

Pete nodded again to himself "'Kay, cool, anything I need to know? Like what clothes I should wear, how much stuff I should pack, stuff like that is important!" he said in an understanding, but expectant tone...

Jett sighed relived that Pete knew what he was doing "Yeah pack light and warm we're going to a place called Snow-Flurry Chasm deep in the mountains there are a good number of grimm and hostile creatures so be prepared for the possibility of a fight."

Pete nodded to himself once more "Noted, pack light, pack warm, kick ass in the name of a world famous pop-star you're dating, gotcha! See you then!" he said before hanging up and going off to pack "This is gonna be fun!"

Jett put away his scroll and sighed "This is going to be tiring I can just tell" he said anticipating a troublesome journey.  "I wonder who Meli is going to bring?" he thought to himself idly
